BRUSSELS, Oct 4: North Korea’s announcement of plans to conduct a nuclear test could be linked to the naming of a South Korean as the likely next secretary-general of the United Nations, the EU’s foreign policy chief said on Wednesday.
Responding to a question in the European Parliament, Javier Solana said: “It coincides — I don’t know if by chance — with the moment that a South Korean may become secretary-general of the United Nations,” he said.
“If it’s the case, we are going to live exciting years.”—Reuters
