KARACHI, Oct 2: Shipping activity remained active at the port where three ships carrying containers and chemicals took berths at QICT and EVT during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release here on Monday.

A total of eight ships, MSC Socotra, MOL Kauri, Chitral, Scan Hansa, Stolt Avenier, Sea Master, Anette Kosan and Jin Long Feng are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, cement, general cargo, edible oil, sugar, chemicals and coal.

Cargo throughput during the report period stood at 62,629 tons comprising 47,291 tons imports and 15,338 tons exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,114 containers (TEUs).

Two ships MSC Socotra and Stolt Avenir sailed out to sea, while MOL Kauri, Anette Kosan and Scan Hansa are expected to sail on Monday. Four ships, Maersk Peterhed, CSAV Ningbo, Summit Europe and Chemroad Mega, are expected to take berth on Monday.

Three ships, Rich Duchess, Great Well and MT Tassels, with containers, crude oil and coke are due to arrive at the port on Monday, while another chemicals carrier Kihuland is due to arrive on Tuesday.

Four ships are currently at the outer anchorage. They are: Sargodha, Aqua Star, Chemroad Mega and Caravos Trader, with rice cement, edible oil, seeds.
