LAHORE, Oct 2: Shafqat Elahi Shaikh has been elected unopposed as the central chairman of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) for the year 2006-07.

According to Aptma officials here on Monday, the new chairman has taken over the charge of his office.

Mr. Shafqat has served the association in various capacities over the years. He was chairman Aptma, Punjab zone, during the year 2005-06.

Meanwhile, Samir Saigol (Saritow Spinning Mills) has been elected unopposed as chairman Aptma, Punjab zone, along with other office bearers and members.

The other office bearers elected are: Shahid Mazhar Puri (Shadman Cotton Mills) senior vice-chairman; M. Anees Khawaja (Masood Spinning Mills, Multan) vice- chairman; and Sheikh Mohammad Akmal (Amjad Textile Mills, Multan) treasurer.

The newly-elected members are: Umair Umar (Hira Mills), Jehanzeb Amin (Samin Textile Mills), Adil Bashir (Shams Textile Mills), Dr. Nadeem Riaz (Riaz Textile Mills), Aamir Sheikh (North Star Textiles), Sheraz J. Monnoo (Jamhoor Textile Mills), Kamran Arshad (Ghazi Fabrics International), and Shahzad Ahmad Sheikh (Ishaq Textile Mills, Faisalabad). —APP
