HYDERABAD, Oct 1: A man was killed and nine others sustained injuries in an armed clash between two groups following a dispute over a petty issue in Hazra Colony in the jurisdiction of Gulshan-e-Hali police station late on Saturday evening.

Police said that Naveed Pathan, a local transporter, entered into an argument with his neighbour, Zulfiqar, after a child from Mr Naveed’s family threw garbage outside Mr Zulfiqar’s house.

The verbal duel soon spiralled into a full fledged armed clash with people from the two sides using firearms and sticks to attack each other. At this stage, Fareed Ahmed Pathan jumped into the dispute to try to defuse it when a bullet hit him and he fell dead, reports said.

The injured, Naveed Pathan, Khursheed, Saeed, Zameer, Dilawar, Niaz, Kamran, Zulfiqar and Aziz alias Bhola were shifted to civil hospital.

Naveed’s condition was stated to be serious as he was operated upon and shifted to intensive care unit.

SHO Khawar Gul said that police would detain people from both sides for investigation and lodge counter cases. But they had not filed any FIR till Sunday evening.

The body was sent to its native town, Mansehra.
