DHAKA, Sept 30: Bangladesh are aiming to win all three qualifying matches of the upcoming Champions Trophy, coach Dav Whatmore said here on Saturday. “Our target is to win all three matches and qualify for the main tournament,” Whatmore said a day before the team was to leave for India for the tournament.
“We are still ranked 10th in one-day cricket. But we are developing as a team and can beat any side on our day,” said Whatmore.
Bangladesh start their campaign on October 7 in Mohali. They have to win at least two ties of the qualifying round, which features the West Indies, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
Former Australian Test player Whatmore dispelled fears of injury to seamers Mashrafe bin Mortaza and Syed Rasel, saying they had been declared fit for the tournament.
Mortaza, the architect of Bangladesh's recent 3-0 whitewash of Kenya in an away one-day series, sustained an ankle injury earlier this month while Rasel had a foot injury.—AFP
