Older persons day today

ISLAMABAD, Sept 30: The 16th International Day for Older Persons is being observed with the theme ‘Improving the Quality of Life for Older Persons: Advancing UN Global Strategies’ on Sunday.

To mark the occasion, Senior Citizens Foundation of Pakistan, departments of social welfare and NGOs would organise a number of seminars, walks, debates and other activities to create awareness among the people to improve quality of life for older persons.

Besides state-run media, newspapers and private TV channels would also present different programmes like talk shows and discussions highlighting the importance of the special occasion.

Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education has also given final touches to its programmes to mark the special day in a befitting manner.—APP
