BEIJING, Sept 30: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao promised to fight corruption and pursue economic reform as the Communist Party marked its 57th anniversary in power on Saturday amid its highest-level graft scandal in a decade.
“We will press ahead with all-around economic, political, cultural and social reform ... and resolutely fight against corruption to build a clean and honest government,” Mr Wen said at a National Day reception.
The event at the Great Hall of the People, the seat of China’s parliament, was attended by President Hu Jintao and other members of the party’s ruling nine-member Standing Committee and 300 foreign diplomats.—AP
