SSGC crush Delhi City Gymkhana

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 29: Half-centuries by Ashraf Ali and skipper Zeeshan Pervez laid the foundation of SSGC’s comprehensive 65-run victory over Delhi City Gymkhana in the 21st Karachi Gymkhana-AKD Ramazan cricket tournament at the KG Ground on Friday.

Opener Ashraf spanked a 53-ball 75, including nine fours and one six, and Zeeshan blasted 54 off 36 deliveries with eight boundaries to help Sui Southern Gas Company pile up 202 for four in 20 overs. The pair added 100 for the second wicket after Ashraf and Asif Zakir (27) put on 69 for the opening stand.

Delhi City Gymkhana never threatened to make a match of it against spin duo of Sohail Mehdi and Mansoor Ahmed. They ultimately finished their innings at 137 for nine.

Slow left-armer Sohail claimed three for 24 while leg-spinner Mansoor mopped up the tail to capture three for 16.

Summarised scores:

SSGC 202-4 in 20 overs (Ashraf Ali 75, Zeeshan Pervez 54, Asif Zakir 27; Tariq Rasheed 2-39); DELHI CITY GYMKHANA 137-9 in 20 overs (Usman Farhat 26; Mansoor Ahmed 3-16, Sohail Mehdi 3-24).
