Unauthorised tickets to be cancelled

Published September 30, 2006

ST JOHN’S, Sept 29: ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 Inc again urged fans worldwide to ensure they acquire match tickets for next year's tournament through authentic sources - CWC Official Travel Agents, Official Hospitality Agents or via Public Ticketing programme. This caution comes against backdrop of organising body's decision to cancel match tickets being offered for resale on auction website, eBay.

The move, says ICC CWC 2007 Commercial Manager, Stephen Price, is being taken “to protect integrity of Event, its pricing structure and policy for Ticketing, which was designed to be as fair as possible and to afford everyone who wishes to attend a match chance to get a ticket”.

It is strong message to persons engaging in black-market activity – by selling or purchasing such tickets – which can be very damaging to any international event by creating perception of price-gouging.—Agencies
