KARACHI, Sept 29: The city government would issue its notification gazette. This was stated in a resolution approved unanimously on Sept 23 in the City Council session.
The resolution said just as the federal and provincial governments had got constitutional cover under the Constitution of Pakistan, the local governments established under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance-2001, too had got the same protection under the Article 140-C of the Constitution.
It said that the provincial and federal governments got their gazettes issued after publishing their notifications regarding governmental affairs whereas owing to non-issuance of gazette of the city government, it had to face hardships.
There are a lot of matters, it says, where taxation proposals and others matters immediately required to be advertised after completing their legal formalities. The city government is sending these matters to the printing press of the Sindh government to get them published and included in the gazette of the Sindh government.
It takes a long time and many matters that require to be immediately included in the gazette face delay while under Conduct of Business Rules Schedule-11's article c(1)-1 established under Section-31 of the SLGO-2001, the city government is authorised to publish its own gazette. It may be recalled that the city government has its own printing press where the city government's budget papers and other stationary items get printed throughout the year.
The gazette would be called the CDGK's gazette, in which all sort of information regarding the city government that needed to be made public would be included. In the council's session it was further directed to the district coordination to get implemented these recommendations while arrangements for publication of the gazette be executed and separate staff should be assigned in this regard.
