Gas for Swabi, other areas soon: minister

ISLAMABAD, Sept 28: Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon has said that the government has allocated a sum of Rs99 million for providing natural gas to Swabi, Topi and Gundaf areas of NWFP.

He was talking to a delegation headed by former NWFP minister Ghafoor Khan Jadoon who had called on him on Thursday.

The minister said that the SNGPL and the SSGCL had been directed to provide a maximum number of new domestic, commercial and industrial connections for boosting socio-economic development activities in the country.

He said the government was utilising all available resources for the well-being of the people especially those living in far-flung and backward areas.

He said the government would ensure provision of electricity, natural gas and clean drinking water for all by December 2007 and had allocated Rs415 billion for carrying out socio-economic development schemes.

Minister Jadoon said the government had been executing many projects for the well-being of the masses in a short span of four years.

On completion, these mega projects would usher in a new era of revolutionary development, he added.

The former NWFP minister thanked the minister for petroleum for paying special intention to the provision of natural gas and assured their full cooperation in this regard.—Online
