PESHAWAR: Rs300m for flood control

PESHAWAR, Sept 28: NWFP Minister for Irrigation and Power Hafiz Akhtar Ali has said that the provincial government has allocated Rs80 million in the Annual Development Programme for canal roads and Rs300 million for flood control in the NWFP.

He said that networking of roads would not only allow market access to local farmers but would also strengthen the irrigation system of the province.

In a press statement issued here on Thursday, the provincial minister directed officials of the Irrigation Department and engineers to chalk out correct plans in coordination with the elected representatives of the related areas so as to properly use the natural resources of the province.—APP
