KARACHI: Appointment of former brigadier as VC slammed

KARACHI, Sept 28: The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Association (FAPUASA) has expressed concern over the appointment of a former brigadier as vice-chancellor of Balochistan University.

In statement issued here on Thursday, FAPUASA president Sarwar Nasim said that such a move had caused unrest among the faculty as well as students of the Balochistan University.

The FAPUASA president said that it had been observed that army people, appointed vice-chancellors in different public sector varsities, were taking decision arbitrarily and thus violating academic freedom at the varsities in Pakistan.

He urged the prime minister to take immediate notice of the situation and ensure appointment of academics as vice-chancellors of public sector universities.—PPI
