KARACHI: Shortage of water in many areas

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 28: Acute water shortage continued to persist in some parts of the city, forcing the residents of the affected localities to either purchase water from the private tankers at exorbitant rates or consume sub-soil unhygienic water.

The hard-hit localities include Federal B Area’s Block 14, Bangalore Town, Mehmoodabad No 6, Azam Basti and parts of Kharadar.

Similarly, residents of Federal B Area’s Block 14 complained that a number of houses, starting from House No 1768, had been facing acute water shortage for the last one week.

Meanwhile, residents of Gulistan-i-Jauhar’s Block 12, complained that since a number of houses, situated near Masjid-i-Usman Ghani, were getting stinking water and therefore they had no option but to buy private tankers at higher rates.

Suspecting that sewage water might be seeping in to the pipeline, they urged the KWSB officials to immediately rectify the fault, or else those still consuming the stinking water might become victim of serious waterborne diseases.
