NEW YORK, Sept 27: President Pervez Musharraf said on Wednesday that the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project was on track and suggested it should be extended to China “so that Pakistan can maximise profits”.
Addressing a press conference here, he said: “If anyone wants us to stop the pipeline project then we will seek adequate compensation for the money which we will lose.”
As regards his meeting with US President George Bush and Afghan President Hamid Karzai, he said: “Mr Karzai has to accept that that Taliban are in Afghanistan and Pakistan has nothing to do with it.”
“We have to cooperate together to get rid of the Taliban problem. We must not fight but cooperate.” He observed that that reputation of Pakistan had become untenable worldwide because every country blamed it for the spread of terrorism.
