By Syed Irfan Raza

ISLAMABAD, Sept 27: The United States will provide an additional aid of $41.2 million to Pakistan to improve law enforcement and border security.

US Charge d’Affaires Peter Bodde and Additional Secretary, Economic Affairs Division, Ahmed Jawad on Wednesday signed three documents, pledging $41.2 million more add to bi-lateral programmes designed to help strengthen Pakistani law enforcement agencies to ensure the integrity of Pakistan’s borders.

Each of the three documents is a revision to a letter of agreement signed by Pakistan and the US on Aug 31, 1982.

The revisions signed on Wednesday will add to a total of $269 million already provided to support Pakistani law enforcement agencies under the letter of agreement.

The major document signed in the ceremony provides $36,320,000 to support three on-going projects:

Border Security ($24,320,000): This includes support to aviation training for the Frontier Corps and Anti-Narcotics Force, commodity support to the FC troops deployed in Balochistan and the NWFP and road construction in the Federally Administered Tribal Area.
