KARACHI: Rs9 million required for revival of Scheme-33
KARACHI, Sept 27: An amount of Rs 9 million is required for uplift activities to completely revive Scheme-33, a high-level meeting was informed here on Wednesday.
The meeting was held at the Governor's House here with Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan in the chair. The meeting reviewed ongoing activities regarding reactivation of Gulzar-i-Hijri.
It was informed that funds amounting to Rs 9 million for physical uplift work had to be generated through a corridor project, but unlike past traditions this project was also allotted, so the required funds could not be generated.
The Scheme-33 could only be revived as per its original planning provided required funds of Rs 9 million could be arranged.
The governor asked for adopting alternate ways and means to generate the required funds. He said that office of project director should be shifted in the area, so that uplift activities could be further accelerated.
The meeting asked the housing societies of Gulzar-i-Hijri, Scheme-33 to give possession of plots to allottees within a month so that construction and housing activities could be boosted.
City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal informed the meeting that the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) had posted a separate executive engineer for Gulzar-i-Hijri besides devising a complete system for the area.
The meeting was further informed that uplift work in the area had already started and those areas were being focused on priority basis which were already populated.
Senior minister Sardar Ahmed, Adviser Waseem Akhtar, additional chief secretary Saleem Khan, additional chief secretary local government Karim Beg, project director Ijaz Khan and others were also present.—PPI
