KARACHI, Sept 26: City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal said here on Monday that the flyover being constructed near Hasan Square at a cost of Rs490 million will be completed soon.

Moreover, 1.25 acres land near Hasan Square has been obtained from Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) where a flyover loop will be given, and work is being carried out day and night to build an alternative road.

The 36-inch wide road will be opened for traffic on Wednesday after which traffic coming from Liaquatabad, Sabzi Mandi and University will flow smoothly toward National Stadium, he added.

The Nazim further stated that owing to effective planning for smooth traffic flow traffic flow has improved in the city in the month of Ramazan.

The smooth traffic flow in the city is being witnessed owing to effective planning carried out one month before the start of the holy month by the city government, followed by its proper implementation.

“No report of traffic jams was received from any part of the city on the first day of Ramazan,” he pointed out while talking to newsmen during his visit to different roads of the city where repair work is going on.

Kamal, expressing his satisfaction said: “Our planning proved fruitful as people reached their homes in time on the first day of Ramazan,” and hoped that the people will face least problems in the rest of the Ramazan.

He said priorities have been set for completing the road repair work under which the main roads are being taken up first followed by the smaller ones.

The work on Garden Road, M A Jinnah Road, Boulton Market and I I Chundrigar Road will be completed by Wednesday.

He said after carrying out the patch work of National Stadium road, traffic is plying smoothly toward Hasan Square, Karsaz and Dalmia.

Traffic has also been eased at Sohrab Goth through completing the patch-work.

The City Nazim also performed the inauguration of a newly-constructed portion of the Shahra-i-Pakistan which was opened for traffic from Tuesday evening.

The road, measuring 1.5 kilometres and stretching from Water Pump to Aisha Manzil, was completed under long life road project in a short period.

Speaking on the occasion, Mustafa Kamal said it is one of the roads for which we had promised Karachiites that these would be opened for traffic during the month of Ramazan.

The city nazim said work on other roads is also going on at full pace and more and more facilities will be available to the citizens with the passage of time.—APP
