ISLAMABAD, Sept 26: A meeting of the Privatisation Commission Board here on Tuesday reviewed progress on all the transactions included in the privatisation programme for the fiscal year 2006-07 and took a number of decisions to expedite these transactions.

The meeting was presided over by Privatisation and Investment Minister Zahid Hamid.

A tentative calendar of events was also approved for proper sequencing of the transactions. It was decided that firm date for each transaction would be announced well in time for the convenience of bidders and information of the general public.

Mr Hamid said the calendar of events would help the investors plan their participation in the privatisation process relating to their areas of interest, and ensure that the process went ahead in an open, fair and transparent manner.

The PC Board also approved in principle the appointment of financial advisers for the privatisation of coal and salt mines projects of the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation, and motel and restaurants of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation.

The board members and the senior officials of the respective ministries and departments were present during the meeting.
