KARACHI, Sept 26: Shipping activity remained brisk at the port where three ships carrying containers and diesel oil took berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release here on Tuesday.

A total of seven ships -- Sinar Botang, CSAV Ningbo, Sealand Freedom, Bar Blue, Tian Yu Feng, Al-Mukhtarah and Caravos Horizon -- are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, cement, seeds, diesel oil and iron ore.

A record cargo handling was achieved at the port on Monday, where a cargo volume of 0.108 million tons comprising 0.094 million tons imports and 0.014 tons exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,404 containers (TEUs) was handled.

Three ships, Sinar Botang, Sealand Freedom and Yanaseni, sailed out to sea. Mar Blue is expected to sail on Tuesday. Three ships, ACX Tsubaki, Concord and Liquid Success, are expected to take berths on Tuesday.

Two ships, Warbah and Maersk Barry with diesel oil and edible oil are due to arrive on Tuesday, while two more container ships CMA CGM Kingston and Mega-II are due to arrive on Wednesday.
