LAHORE, Sept 25: Justice Khwaja Mohammad Sharif of the Lahore High Court on Monday ordered a case against Mehwish, a teenaged girl from Faisalabad, when she defended her lover soon after the dismissal of his bail plea.

The judge directed the police to register a criminal case against the girl after she stated in the court that she was not abducted by Mustafeezur Rehman, who also belonged to Faisalabad, and that she left her parents on her own free will. She also said that she and Mustafeez had been living together like wife and husband without contracting marriage for about two months.

The police, later, told reporters that a case against the girl would be registered under the Hudood Laws. The charges would be identical to those being faced by Mustafeez.

The mother of Mehwish had lodged a case with Sargodha Road police in Faisalabad under the Hudood laws about two months ago alleging that the 25-year person had abducted Mehwish (18) and they were living together without marrying.

Mustafeez moved the LHC with a request that the FIR against him be quashed and he might be allowed bail before arrest. The court dismissed his pleas. Upon dismissal of his pleas, the petitioner tried to escape but the police took him into custody. The girl, who was present in the court, stood up and started defending Mustafeez. The police took her into custody after the court order.
