KARACHI: 36 mobile phones, 27 vehicles taken away

KARACHI, Sept 25: At least 27 vehicles and 36 cellphones were taken away by bandits in different parts of the city on Monday.

Police sources said that two cars were snatched at gunpoint and 21 were reported stolen.

Similarly, 12 motorcycles were reported snatched and nine two-wheelers were stolen in various parts of the city.

Police sources said that at least 17 mobile phones were taken away at gunpoint and 18 were stolen whereas one cellphone was reported missing on Monday.

IG’S DIRECTIVE: Inspector General of Sindh police Jehangir Mirza has asked the Anti-Car Lifting Cell to use intelligence to curb vehicle theft and snatching, adds PPI.

“The services of officers and officials to be made active and the intelligence regarding curbing vehicles theft should be reactivated.” He directed the SSP of ACLC to chalk out an effective strategy to ensure arrest of culprits involved in snatching of vehicles and other heinous crimes by using intelligence.

The police have formed a strategy to curb street crime and robberies in the city and regarding implementation of this strategy.
