Eswarah makes it second victory on trot

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, Sept 24: Fancied three-year-old chestnut filly, Eswarah, made it two on trot by posting four lengths victory over Adaab Arz to claim feature event in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Owned by M. Shafiq and trained by S. Ehtisham, she was ridden home by Arshad clocking one min 15 2/5 seconds in the six furlongs race.

Finishing further seven lengths behind was colt Moon Raker and another three-and-a-half length away was Dragon Heart.

Second favourite three-year-old bay filly, Queen Of Mirwa, atoned to his last defeat when she edged out chestnut colt, Red Rufus, by two lengths to win the supporting event. Saddled by Mohiuddin, she was piloted home by M. Yousuf.

Favourite Gullu’s Government had to be content with third place while Thanks Naeem completed the frame. The field was reduced to nine runners after filly, Black Girl, was withdrawn.

As predicted, jockey M. Nasir presented owner Ghulam Dastagir Rajar a winner when he rode three-year-old chestnut colt, Sindh Malook, to a facile 10 lengths victory over bay horse Khas-ul-Khas.

They were chased by Trust Again and Champion Express.

Filly Patricia also lived up to her top billing when she was galloped to a three lengths win over colt Jack In The Box with Mohammad Essa astride.

Four-year-old bay filly, Juliat, outpaced favourite bay colt, Mir Sikandar, by one length to win honours.

In a closely fought battle filly, In Her Shoes, beat mare, Queen Of Awan, by head to grab second race. Favourite Al Jarrar settled for third place.

But the day belonged to six-year-old dark bay horse, King Of The Field, who finally delighted the race goers with a fluent four lengths victory to pick up the opener.

He was predicted to win on any given day if tried by connections and he did as he pleased.

The triumph came after eleven successive failures in which he finished off the board. This was preceded by his two wins on trot.
