NEW YORK, Sept 23: New York city was on high terror alert on Saturday following reports that Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden may have died in August following a bout with typhoid in the mountains of north-west Pakistan.
Police officials here confirmed that special police units had been posted at synagogues and mosques in the city in order to thwart and untoward incidents.
