KOHAT, Sept 23: The political authorities of Kohat seized 71 foreign-made rockets in Darra Adamkhel on Saturday.

The operation was led by District Coordination Officer and Political Agent Arshad Majeed Mohmand in Koiwal area near Tor Chappar village. He told journalists that the rockets were buried outside a hideout.

Rockets of the same make were fired on the Kohat airbase three times in the past and on the Thall Cantonment last year.

Mr Mohmand said that the administration had summoned a jirga of elders of the area and asked them to hand over the culprits to the political administration, otherwise action would be taken against the whole tribe under the collective responsibility law.

In response to a question, he said that the federal government had handed over a list of 24 criminals to the local authorities.

These people were wanted in cases of kidnapping, car theft, smuggling of fake currency and other crimes. Out of the 24 criminals, 14 had so far been arrested, he added.
