Indians slip in ODI rankings

DUBAI, Sept 22: A string of substandard performances from India’s Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and Rahul Dravid have resulted in their fall by several notches in the latest ICC ODI Rankings.

Highest-ranked Indian batsman Dhoni dropped down to sixth place while stylish southpaw Yuvraj, who is experiencing a lean patch these days, came down three places to 13th.

Skipper Rahul Dravid’s ordinary faring as opener in the ODIs has taken him to 16th while only master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has managed to hang onto his 19th place after coming back with a bang from an injury lay off.

Meanwhile, Michael Hussey's maiden ODI hundred against the West Indies in tri-series in Malaysia has propelled him to almost the top position. Hussey is now just five rating points behind fellow Australian Adam Gilchrist who is sitting out tri-series while Ponting completes top three places.

The bowlers, on other hand, gained some ground and while Harbhajan Singh (ninth) and Ajit Agarkar (11th) both moved up one place, out-of-form Irfan Pathan slipped two spots to 10th.

South Africa's Shaun Pollock remains top ranked player in both ICC Player Rankings for ODI bowlers and ODI all-rounders. In all-rounder's list Pathan occupies fifth spot.

Batsmen:

1 Adam Gilchrist (Aus), 2. Mike Hussey (Aus), 3. Ricky Ponting (Aus), 4. R.R Sarwan (WI), 5 Andrew Symonds (Aus), 6. M.S Dhoni (Ind), 7. Kevin Pietersen (Eng), 8. Graeme Smith (SA), 9. Chris Gayle (WI), 10. Michael Clarke (Aus) Bowlers:
