HEC clarifies

Published September 23, 2006

ISLAMABAD, Sept 22: Referring to a Friday’s news report, “No army man to be appointed varsity VC”, the Higher Education Commission has clarified that the statement attributed to HEC chairman Prof Dr Attaur Rehman and executive director Prof Dr Sohail H. Naqvi is not correct.

“It is clarified that no such assurance was given by the HEC officers in the meeting. As per policy approved by the Chancellors’ Committee, the selection of vice-chancellors of universities will be made by the chancellors from a panel of names presented by the search committee set up for this purpose.”
