LAHORE, Sept 21: Posting one of the best tournament cards of five-under-par-67, Matloob Ahmed came from behind to annex the Lahore Gymkhana golf trophy with three-day aggregate of 208 here on Thursday.
Matloob and Imdad Hussain both were locked at third position on Wednesday but they competed well to leave behind leader Shahid Javed and seasoned golfers M Munir and Akhtar Ali, to steal the show.
Matloob improved from third position to come first while Imdad fell short by one stroke to finish second.
Matloob was in tremendous form at the last nine holes. His brilliance was on display when he scored a birdie at the 12th hole and when he earned an eagle at the 15th, brightning his chances of a victory. Then back-to-back birdies on the 16th and 17th made the difference as he outpointed Imdad.

Overnight favourites Munir, Shahid Javed and M Siddique finished joint third with aggregates of 212 each.
In the amateur event, it was the game between two brothers Adil Jahangir and Salman Jahangir that was most engrossing. Adil emerged victorious in the end after a tough fight while Salman remained runners-up.
Manzoor Ahmed won the senior professional section.
Among the ladies, Shahzadi Gulfam totally dominated the contest, winning net as well as the gross. Jamila Jabbar was the runners up in the gross.
