Need for proper reconstruction planning stressed

By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, Sept 20: NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah Khan has stressed the need for proper planning before starting reconstruction of health facilities in the quake-hit areas of the province.

He was talking to project experts for Primary Health Care Revitalisation and Decentralisation in Earthquake affected areas (Pride) here on Wednesday, says an official handout.

Project Director Bruce Rasmussen, Health Services Director-General Dr Jalilur Rehman, Health Sector Research and Reforms Units chief Younas Javed and Pride Deputy Director Dr Waqaar Ajmal were present on the occasion.

The project director said that the USAID-funded project would mainly focus on improvement of health facilities in the quake-hit district of Mansehra. He said issues relating health, capacity building and community mobilisation would be focussed.

Mr Rasmussen said that with the cooperation of the provincial government health care facilities could be improved in the area. The minister assured them of government’s support in effective implementation of the project.
