Indian pair bag crown


KARACHI, Sept 19: Indian top seed pair of K. R. Raman-Rakesh Kohli claimed 45-plus doubles crown in the Pakistan International Seniors Tennis Championship at Karachi Club on Tuesday.

Their victims in the final were Altaf Hussain-Rafiq Godil who went down 3-6, 1-6.

Another Indian top seed P. R. Raju advanced into 55-plus singles final where he is drawn to meet fourth seed Akber Hayat Khan. The former had a 6-3, 6-2 prevailing over Mushtaq Ahmed while the latter got the better of Yosuf Ismail 6-2, 6-3 in the two pre-finals.

The remaining five finals are scheduled for Wednesday.

Results:

55-plus singles (semi-final): P. R. Raju (Ind) bt Mushtaq Ahmed 6-3, 6-2, Akber Hayat Khan bt Yosuf Ismail 6-2, 6-3.

35 plus doubles (pre-quarter-finals):

Ejaz Sarhadi – Murthy bt Akhtar Aliman – Imran Abubaker 6-3, 6-2.

(Quarter-finals):

Rafi Darbari – Rizwan Shamsi bt Murthy – Ejaz Sarhadi 6-3, 6-2, Zahid Hussain – Zulfiqar Hakim bt Salim Siddiq – Asif Ismail 6-3, 6-1, Altaf Hussain – Shahid Hussain bt Faisal – Naveed 6-0, 6-0.

45 plus doubles (final):

K. R. Raman – Rakesh Kohli bt Altaf Hussain – Rafiq Godil 6-3, 6-1.

Wednesday’s fixtures:

35 plus doubles, 55 plus doubles (finals) 8.00am; 35 plus singles (final) 5.00pm; 45 plus singles, 55 plus singles (finals) 6.00pm.
