KARACHI, Sept 19: The annual parents’ day and prize distribution ceremony of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Higher Secondary School Phase-IV was held here on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, DHA Administrator Brig Kamran Aziz said that the concept of education was not only confined to acquisition of knowledge but its real purpose was to develop a harmonious personality and strong character.
He urged upon the school management to look beyond academics and focus on the development of creative minds and dynamic individuals, who could contribute to the society and excel in life.
Brig Aziz said that the greatest service to the nation was to provide the youth with the opportunities to acquire quality education in intellectually vibrant disciplined environment.
The administrator reiterated that the salvation and progress of a nation was dependent on its sound educational base. He said that the DHA would leave no stone unturned in promoting quality education at all levels and in all ways.
Earlier, the principal Mrs Nusrat Ossama Siddiqui in her welcome address said that her school being the premier and oldest educational institution of the DHA was maintaining the traditions of excellence in academics as well as co-curricular activities.
Later, the students presented a variety programme. The pervasive spirit behind the entire programme was patriotism and the love for the country, which was highly appreciated by the audience.
At the end, Brig Aziz distributed prizes among the students, who excelled in various academic and co-curricular activities. He also announced a donation of Rs50,000 for the school.
A large number of parents, eminent citizens and DHA officials attended the function.—PPI
