Programme on farm credit

KARACHI, Sept 19: The State Bank of Pakistan in collaboration with the United Bank Limited is organising a 2-day special outreach and training programme on agricultural credit on September 20-21 at Nausheroferoze.

The programme is being organised as part of the SBP campaign to create awareness among the farming and rural community about financing facilities they can access and also to enhance agri-finance capacity of commercial banks, says a press release.The SBP promotional activities and policy initiatives during the last few years have resulted in an appreciable increase in flow of credit to the agriculture sector and it rose from Rs44.5bn in 2000-01 to Rs137bn in 2005-06.

Senior officials of SBP will make detailed presentation on the central bank’s initiatives for increasing the flow of credit to the agriculture sector.
