KARACHI, Sept 19: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the port where four ships carrying containers, edible oil and diesel oil took berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Tuesday.

A total of seven ships -- MSC London, MOL Accord, Xiang Wan, Sealand Voyager, New Toyokaze, Santa Barbara and Frontier Express -- are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, sugar, edible oil and diesel oil.

A record cargo handling was achieved on Monday where a cargo volume of 0.102 million tons comprising 0.080 million tons imports and 0.022 million tons exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried out 2,436 containers (TEUs), was handled.

Four ships, MSC London, MOL Accord, Sealand Voyager and Santa Barbara sailed out, while Xiang Wan and Frontier Express are expected to sail on Tuesday. Two ships, CSAV Ningbo and ACX Mimosa, are expected to take berths on Tuesday. Oil tanker MT Sitamia is due to arrive at the port on Tuesday, while Mumbai Express, Lady Jasmine and Tian Yu Feng, with containers, chemicals and seeds, are due to arrive on Wednesday.
