Nazim vows to preserve historical monuments


PESHAWAR, Sept 18: Peshawar District Nazim Haji Ghulam Ali has said thatevery possible measure will be taken restoring the beauty of Peshawar and preserving the historical monuments in the city.

He was speaking at a ceremony held to mark the unveiling of a plaque at the historic Kotla Mohsin Khan Gate, giving a brief history of the monument.

The plaque was placed by an NGO, Sarhad Conservation Network, here at the Kotla Mohsin Khan. District Nazim said he will utilise all his energies in restoring the past glory of Peshawar which was known in the past as the city of flowers.

He said due to unplanned construction the city has lost its historic gardens which had been established by past rulers.

He sought help from intelligentsia, doctors, academia in guiding him about preservation of historic monuments.

He also assured the Sarhad Conservation Network that the provincial archaeology department would work for preservation of the historic Kotla Mohsin Khan Gate.—APP
