PESHAWAR, Sept 18: Awami National Party leader Nasim Wali Khan, has expressed concern over the global crises erupting as a result of hegemonic plans of the United States, and alleged that Pakistan is being used as a tool to destabilise some countries in the region.

“The rulers, in the name of the war on terror, are not only changing their policies overnight, but have also forgotten all cultural, ethical, social and religious norms in this regard,” she said at the Mulaqat programme of the Khyber Union of Journalists on Monday.

She said the ANP had never backed the US aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq. “Being followers of late freedom fighter Bacha Khan, we are against aggression, terrorism and violence,” she said.

She said Pakistan had organised Mujahideen at the behest of the US and later they were renamed as Taliban.

“The rulers without any hesitation made a shift in their Afghan policies in accordance with the wishes of the US,” she remarked and recalled that late Bacha Khan had predicted it in the 1980s. She condemned the US for its policies in Afghanistan and Iraq and said now Iran was a target. Asking whether US allegations against former president Saddam Hussain of Iraq had been proved, she said similar allegations had now been levelled against Iran, whereas a free hand had been given to Israel in the Arab region.

She was of the view that all such acts and tactics are part of a ‘great game’, initiated in the name of Islam.

She said Pakistan was playing a pivotal role in the game at the behest of the US and its rulers are using the troops of the country against their own people and frequently changing national policies.

She alleged that the were giving precedence to US directives over national interests. She said the government had exposed its failure before the whole world through the North Waziristan agreement.

The ANP leader said Pakistan was in dire need of political stability because of its sensitive location.
