KARACHI: Trader, son killed mysteriously

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 18: A businessman and his son were killed in mysterious circumstances by unknown persons on Monday. Their bodies were abandoned at the emergency department of Jinnah Hospital by unknown persons who escaped from the hospital.

Police said businessman Saeed Ahmed Burney and his son Khalid Ahmed Burney left their house in Korangi No 4 at 11:15 am for work.

However, when they did not reach their offices at Nursery and Baloch Colony, their staff called them on cell phone.

They were told that father and son had met an accident and were in the emergency ward of the JPMC, DSP Saddar told Dawn.

“They were shifted to the hospital in their Santro (ACW-645) by two persons. The men, accompanying the bodies, had parked the car at the entrance of the hospital and as the bodies were switched to stretchers, the two managed to flee”, DSP Salman said.

He said all the police stations on the route between Korangi and JPMC have been checked, but from nowhere incident of gunfire has been reported.

Collectively they had suffered five bullets, three bullets were pumped into Khalid and two fired at the father, police said.

An examination of the car suggested that they were shot somewhere else.

Police were perturbed that the victims had reportedly left home at 11:15am and their bodies were shifted to JPMC at 11:40.

Police, quoting the family, said Khalid was preparing for the CSS Examination.
