KARACHI: Cop, informer shot dead

KARACHI, Sept 18: A policeman and an alleged police informer were shot dead by unknown persons in Malir on Monday night. TPO Malir described the incident target killing. Both the victims were shot in the head.

Head constable Wakil Ahmed posted at Khokhrapar police station was going with Zahid. When they reached Jinnah Square on their motorcycle unknown persons, also on a motorbike, opened fire on them.

The victims suffered bullets in their heads, which caused their instant death, TPO Jamshad Inam said.

Following the incident, Malir area became tense and shops and other businesses closed down early.

The TPO said Monday’s killing bears all the similarities of the previous killings in which policemen have been targeted.

A few months back, at least five policemen were gunned down mainly on Sharea Faisal and Malir area by unknown persons.

In all the cases, policemen were shot a single bullet in the head.

Last month, two personal of the Rangers were shot dead near Liaquat market by unknown persons.
