PPP urges govt to stop Balochistan operation

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Sept 17: The deputy parliamentary leader of the People’s Party Parliamentarians in the National Assembly, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, on Sunday called for immediately stopping the military operation in Balochistan.

Speaking at a press conference after offering condolences over the death of Nawab Akbar Bugti to his sons, he said a dialogue should be initiated with political forces of the province to resolve contentious issues, including that of provincial autonomy. He added that no problem could be solved through use of force.

Jamhoori Watan Party information secretary Amanullah Kanrani was also present.

The PPP leader condemned the killing of Nawab Bugti and said no person who had some political wisdom could support the government’s action against a leader who had voted for Pakistan.

He demanded formation of an independent judicial commission to probe into the Kohlu tragedy. Mr Qureshi said the concurrent list should be abolished and subjects included in the list should be given to the provinces.
