KARACHI, Sept 17: Unfancied four-year-old bay colt The King Of Arab upset the applecart when he posted one-and-a-half length victory over favourite chestnut Dil Phaink to land Tesio Stakes in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

He was galloped home by jockey M. Nasir in a time of 1 min 14 3/5 seconds while depriving Dil Phaink a hat trick.

Filly, Fantasia, settled for third place while bay horse, King Of Sanghar, completed the frame.

Earlier, Nasir piloted two-year-old colt Fair Diamond to its maiden victory to capture Futurity Stakes that featured seven contestants after Fanim Love was withdrawn.

He was chased by Sir Jee and Mida’s Touch for the places in the four furlongs race.

Nasir excelled in the saddle when he completed treble by sprinting favourite filly, Stormy Kiss, to victory beating Your Honour by three lengths.

As predicted, public fancy filly, Eswarah, romped home by posting four-and-a-half lengths victory over mare, Velvet Green. The field was reduced to eight after Silent Angel was withdrawn.

Filly, Sky Girl, with Sohail Ahmed astride, surprised all and sundry when she edged out fancied Mera Jugnoo by two-and-a-half lengths in a smart time of 1 min 3 3/5 seconds. Cant Catch Me and Aces High finished joint third. Waheed Baran, rider of Cant Catch Me, was suspended till further enquiry for ‘unsatisfactory riding’.

Owner Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara had a fine double. While mare Ultimate Victory made amends to pick up the opener, filly Jan-e-Mun made it two on trot.

Ghulam Shabbir II presented owner Shahid Mehmood with a winner by sprinting Chistian The Great home by half-a-length.

Three-year-old bay colt, the Concord, also picked up spoils winning the third race of the day by getting the better of Hot Strides by half length.

Trainers Mushtaq Ali Khan and Allah Judrio also shone by sending out a brace of winners.
