JUI holds protests against Pope

RAWALPINDI, Sept 17: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI) held a protest demonstration against Pope Benedict XVI in front of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Press Club here on Sunday.

JUI Rawalpindi chief Abdul Majeed Hazarvi, district president Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, secretary-general Maulana Saeedur Rehman and several other party office-bearers participated in the demonstration.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Majeed Hazarvi said the enemies of Islam were engaged in conspiracies against Islam and the Muslim rulers had become silent spectators. Anti-Islam forces are implementing the American agenda against Muslims through different conspiracies, he added.

The protesters rejected the pope’s apology and demanded that he should personally apologise to Muslims.—Online
