GUJRANWALA, Sept 17: Dacoits looted a trader’s house, clinic of a doctor and took away two motorcycles in four strikes in and around the city here on Sunday. Reports said as many as four outlaws forced their entry into house of trader Muhammad Asad in Rana Colony in Sabzi Mandi locality by scaling the boundary wall. They held hostage the inmates and made off with gold jewellery, cash and other valuables worth Rs150,000.
In another incident, three bandits entered the clinic of Dr Nasir Mehmood in Jalil Town when he was attending patients. They took away a cash of Rs25,000, a mobile phone and also deprived several patients of their money and cell phones.
Two robbers drove away with as many motorcycles from Muhammad Nadeem of Baghbanpura and Sultan Ahmed of Sheikhupura Road when they were on their way home from markets.
Police are investigating.
RALLY: Dwellers of People’s Colony and Muttahida Majlis Amal will jointly take out a protest rally on Friday (Sept 22) against an inordinate delay in the construction of colony underpass at railway track.
At a meeting held here on Sunday presided over by MMA Nandipur town president Hajajullah Samdani, the participants said the highway department’s contractor had left the construction work incomplete after digging, causing a great deal of inconvenience for them.
They alleged that railway authorities were creating hurdles by raising objections on construction work.
On the other hand, the city district government had claimed a few months back that all objections had been removed and work would resume shortly, they said. Dacoits held: Aroop police claimed on Sunday to have arrested two dacoits after a brief encounter at Lohianwala village and recovered looted goods, narcotics and illicit arms from their possession.
On a tip-off, a police team raided the village. On seeing the police, the robbers opened fire. During a shootout, they surrendered and the police arrested them who were identified as Imran and Maqsood.
Police recovered two pistols, three stolen motorcycles and narcotics from their possession. A case has been registered against them.
