KHAIRPUR: Protest against loadsheding

Published September 18, 2006

KHAIRPUR, Sept 17: People of Jado Wahan town and adjoining areas held a demonstration on the Jado Wahan road on Sunday in protest against hours of loadsheding and the issuing of detection bills. Ghulam Qadir Khuhro led the protesters.

The protesters said that Hesco Gambat had forced unannounced loadsheding on them for about 8 to 10 hours a day without giving any reason.

The loadshedding, which they had been suffering since three months, had a very unhealthy impact on their daily lives and businesses, they complained.

They said that Hesco officials were in the habit of issuing detection bills and when a villager wanted them to correct it, they demanded bribes for doing the job. They said that they had complained time and again to authorities concerned but no action had been taken to resolve problems.
