DADU, Sept 17: The SHOs of Nooriabad and Loonikot police stations were suspended on Sunday for failing to provide security to FIA vehicles when they passed through their areas.

Thirty-four prisoners who were among 571 deported from different countries for violating immigration laws took advantage of lack of security when their bus made a brief stop at a petrol pump in Nooriabad and managed to escape after breaking windowpanes on Friday night.

Jamshoro DPO Farid Jan Sarhandi said that FIA officials were taking deportees from Karachi to Sukkur in six vehicles.

Five vehicles went ahead but one stopped at the petrol pump near Nooriabad town where the prisoners scuffled with FIA officials and 34 of them managed to escape, he said.

Police mounted a search operation between Nooriabad and Kotri along the Super Highway to nab the fugitives.

Kotri DSP Aftab Nizamani and Nooriabad DSP Siraj Sehto were heading the operation, he said.

The official said that the department had suspended the SHO of Nooriabad, Bego Khan, and the SHO of Loonikot, Rahim Chandio for negligence.

No case had so far been registered of the incident nor any fugitive had been arrested, he said.
