KARACHI, Sept 17: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement rushed nearly a dozen truckloads of relief goods to the rain-hit areas of Sindh, including Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Thatta, Sanghar and Mirpurkhas.

The caravans headed for their destinations after a ceremony at the office of the party’s welfare wing, Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation whose chairman Sheikh Liaquat Hussain announced that the goods weighing several tons of food and essential items, like flour, milk, rice, tea, ghee, bottled water, soap, pulses, candles, match boxes, spices, dates, juices, and cooking oil.

Each packet weighing 20 to 25 kgs is sufficient for three weeks for a family of average five.

Sheikh Hussain said at a press briefing that goods had been collected at more than a dozen camps set up in Karachi.

He recalled that the MQM, under Altaf Hussain’s instructions, stood committed to serving the cause of suffering humanity, be it in Pakistan or abroad.
