KARACHI, Sept 15: Zakaria Ali Mohammad advanced into next round of the Pakistan International Seniors Tennis Championship after beating Indian M. Mohan in 55-plus singles at Karachi Club on Friday.

Zakaria won the opener 6-2 only to see his opponent retire in the only match played at the time of filing this report.

Of the 15, only eight Indians have arrived here to feature in the event in addition to a Sri Lankan.

According to draws, India’s P. R. Raju has been top seeded in 55 plus singles.

He is followed by Pakistan’s Nasir Dawood.

Raju’s compatriot and K. R. Raman has been top seeded in 45 plus singles to be followed by home player Karim Gul Agha.

Rizwan Shamsi and Syed Qutub were seeded one and two in the 35 plus singles.

Besides singles, doubles of the above three events will also be organised as organisers have dropped three categories: 40 plus singles and ladies 35 plus singles as well as doubles.

Saturday’s fixtures: Matches begin at 6.00pm.
