KARACHI: Spelling Bee contest continues

KARACHI, Sept 15: The third “Dawn in Education-National Spelling Bee” competition continued on the fifth day on Friday at the Bahria Auditorium in which six more teams qualified for the Karachi city finals scheduled to be held on Sept 18, said a coordinator of the event.

The winning teams of Friday in three different age groups were:

9-11 age group; Zafarullah, Hafsa Shakeel and Dua Saleem of Beaconhouse School System (Primary II) and Rida Iftikhar, Aiman Mahmood and Sehrish Mustafa of Happy Palace School (Karimabad Campus).

12-14 age group; Sarib Hussain, Ralph Martin and Hammad Mazhar of St Patrick’s High School and Fatima Khan, Bisma Sohail and Syed Fahad bin Shakil of Raunaq-i-Islam Sarabai School. 15-17 age group; Faysal Subhani, Abbas Moiz Hussain and Asad Moiz Hussain of the St Patrick’s High School and Durraiya Azmat, Sana Ahmed and Farha Sheikh of the Aureole High School.

The pronouncers of the competition were: Sue Gilbert and Noor Jehan Mecklai, while the judges were: Sean Harris, Fakhir Imtiaz, Lionel D’cruze, Samina Khan, Obaid Khan and Rahim Artani.

The competitions are being held in collaboration with the British Council.
