GUJRANWALA, Sept 14: The district police higher-ups have agreed to immediately transfer SP (investigation) Mahboob Aslam who had allegedly humiliated a lawyer, bringing to an end the row between the police and lawyers.

Negotiations were held at the DPO office at 4pm during the course of which District Bar Association President Illyas Husain Rehan, Punjab Bar Council members Saeed Bhutta, Rana Ibrar Ahmad, Malik Shaukat Ali Awan, Eizad Masood and others demanded registration of case against SP Mahboob Aslam or his immediate transfer.

Regional police officer Malik Iqbal assured the lawyers that the SP would be transferred.

Earlier, the DBA office-bearers boycotted court proceedings in protest against what they said their colleague Farooq Alam Ansari’s humiliation by the SP at his office. — Correspondent
