LAHORE, Sept 14: The eldest son of an advocate was shot dead by two unidentified motorists in Faisal Town early Thursday morning. Jamshaid Anwar Sipra, 41, was at home in B-Block when he received a call on his cell inviting him to come out of the house around 12:30.“Jamshaid replied in positive and climbed down but after a few minutes, on hearing sound of firing, his younger brother Sadaat also climbed down and found his brother injured with bullets,” said Liaquat Sipra, Jamshaid’s first cousin while speaking to Dawn at the city mortuary.
He said Jamshaid asked Sadaat to take him to hospital as two people belonging to Bhatti Colony opened fire on him. He was rushed to Jinnah Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased was doing part-time real estate business but he had no monetary or property dispute with any one, Liaquat said.
The police said Jamshaid had divorced his wife some time ago and the investigation would include this aspect.
Jamshaid’s father Anwar Sipra is a renowned lawyer of the Supreme Court and has been living with his second wife Bushra Anwar, parliamentary secretary for environment, in Islamabad.
In another incident, a youth was clubbed to death by his colleague over minor dispute in Mozang.
Police said Naveed Anjum, 21, was a worker in Ali Autos on Lytton Road. On Thursday, Naveed and sweeper Wilson Masih scuffled during dusting. Wilson attacked Naveed with iron rod as a result of which the latter died on the spot.
FOUND DEAD: Two bodies were recovered from different parts of the city on Thursday.
One of the bodies was found near Data Ganj Bakhsh’s shrine and the other near Model Town Katchery in Naseerabad police station precinct.
The relevant police teams claimed that the deceased seemed to be addicts who might have consumed overdose.
ARREST: The Highways Patrol Police, Sheikhupura, claimed on Thursday to have arrested a robber who along with three accomplices was trying to plunder cash and valuables from bus passengers.
