KARACHI, Sept 14: An ASI of the Punjab police has been arrested by the Anti-Car Lifting Cell for a car theft. Police said ASI Asad Raza of the Punjab police reportedly stole a car (AKA-969) from Clifton on Wednesday afternoon. The tracker company informed the police when the car reached Hyderabad.
Police said the ASI had come to Karachi for car theft and for transporting it to some other city.
The accused is being interrogated. Police suspected that the accused is member of a criminal gang.
Meanwhile, at least 38 vehicles and 46 cell phones were taken away by bandits in different parts of the city on Thursday.
Police sources said six cars were snatched and 17 cars were stolen from different parts of the city.
Similarly, 11 motorcycles were snatched and four were stolen on Thursday.
Police said 23 cell phones were snatched at gunpoint and 20 were stolen while three cell phones were reported missing on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the ACLC has recovered 18 vehicles during the last 48 hours, PPI adds.
The cars recovered are Suzuki Swift ABJ-777, Nissan Sunny H-0695, Suzuki Hiroof CD-1125, Suzuki Bolan CJ-7178, Suzuki Hi-roof CK-3516, Suzuki Mehran U-2447, Suzuki Swift ACF-712, Suzuki Swift T-5194, Suzuki Mehran R-5900, Suzuki Mehran AHH-905, Suzuki Khyber U-4526 and Suzuki Khyber Q-1460.
Recovered motorcycles included Honda KCD-1103, Hero70 KCB-5726, Honda-70 RNG-5896, Honda 70 KAS-2345, Honda 70 KAB-6082 and Honda 70 KAS-1590.
