PESHAWAR, Sept 12: NWFP Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Sardar Mohammad Idrees has said that laws relating to the local area authority should be changed to make them more effective.
He was presiding over a meeting of the Local Area Authority here in his office on Monday.
The meeting reviewed the performance of the authority and called for changing the relevant law.
The meeting also directed the local government authority to submit the report about housing societies and the governing body under its control and also submit the details of plots structures, roads, mosques and other related facilities.
The meeting directed all district Nazims to get No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Local Government department before finalising any housing scheme.
The minister maintained that the purpose of making the authority more effective was to develop linkage among other bodies so that the authority could discharge its obligations in a more responsible manner.
The meeting was also attended by Director General CD&MD Sareer Mohammad, Project Director RWSSP Asmatullah Gandapur, Abdul Aziz Khan Niazi of the Qurtaba College, Zafarullah Khan District Bannu, Deputy Secretary Local Government Sajjad, Prof Rohool Amin and General Manger CD&MD Mohammad Tariq.
Pending cases: A full court reference with Chief Justice Tariq Pervez Khan in the chair was held in the Peshawar High Court in which different judicial matters as well as pending cases were discussed in detail.
The full court reference was attended by all the judges of the High Court. Various important decisions were taken on the occasion.
Dua was offered for the founder of the nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah over his death anniversary and Fateha Khwani was held over the death of the brother of Justice Ijazul Hassan.—APP
